Holmes County Farmer-Hub:  Aug. 1843 – 2010 (Papers from 2010 to the current date are in paper format.)

Obituaries

Farmer-Hub obituaries are available on index cards in a file cabinet.

Hub obits are indexed at http://index.rbhayes.org/hayes/index/.  However, there are years that have not been indexed.  They are: 1888-1917, 1925, 1932, 1938-1957, 1967-1985.

 

Probate Records

These available on microfilm for the years 1824 – 1900.  However, 2 rolls are missing and may be available from the Holmes Co. Genealogical Society.  They are indexed in a blue notebook beside the microfilm storage cabinet and online at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohholmes/index.html

 

Common Pleas Court Civil Records

These are available on microfilm for the years 1826 -1900.  They are indexed in 2 blue notebooks beside the microfilm storage cabinet and online at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohholmes/index.html

 

Guardians

These are available on microfilm for the years 1852-1900.  They are not indexed.

 

Wills

We do have some wills available on microfilm for the years 1824 – 1938.  These are not indexed.

 

Marriages

We have marriage records on microfilm for the years 1821 -1955.  Some rolls have indexes.  Others do not.

We also have typed summaries of marriage information in book form for the years 1825 – 1895.  A listing is also found on our website,

Birth Records

These are available on microfilm for the years 1867 – 1956.  Some rolls are indexed, others are not.  There is an index available which covers years 1867-1877 on our website here.

 

Holmes Co. Common Pleas Naturalization Records

Tax Duplicates

Available on microfilm for the years 1825 – 1841

 

Census

Available on microfilm for the years:  1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920.

Cemeteries

We have a Holmes County Cemetery Index and a Holmes County Cemetery Book (3 ring binders) in the genealogy room.  These contain cemetery inscriptions through the early 1960’s. Cemetery locations and contact information for some cemeteries can also be found here.

Also, Holmes County cemetery inscriptions and other information is available on our website, www.holmeslibrary.org/cemeteries/townships/  Patrons can then select a township and search the available cemeteries.

We also have the book, Cemetery Directory of the Amish Community in Eastern Holmes & Adjoining Counties in Ohio,  published in 1975.
